SOCO Update

For my SOCO tent visitors: I will not be on Congress this weekend, due to the awesome fact that I've sold most of my inventory. Thanks to everyone for their support! Custom Cedar Chest - Part 2

Finally! I'm able to post some progress on the custom chest I've been working on! It's definitely a labor of love, but now that I've gotten through the grunt work (sanding, wood filling, and spray painting)-I'm really getting in the groove! It depicts my friends, Roman & Jana with their doggies, as a "Dia de los Muertos" family! The whole chest is a chocolate brown color, with lots of vibrant color added. This is the lid, I still have the sides to complete, and I'll post those pics when I get there...phew!

New Studio Shelving!!

All you creative ones living in chaos will appreciate this...I'm getting new, custom built shelving in my art studio!!! My boyfriend and his Dad are building them for me, don't they rock?! I'm so excited! I have sooo many craft supplies and machines, that I was getting buried alive. I'll finally have a refreshing, organized space to work in. I think it will really help my productivity and focus! I've been painting with my projects in my lap, hunched over the coffee table. My back has been very angry with me, to say the least. I can't stand clutter, and now organization will reign! MWAAAHAHAHA (insert crazed laughter and glee here)!

Christmas came early!!!

Fabulous things are happening here in Leila land! Soon, Illustrated Ink will feature my art on screen printed tee's and bags! Yay! I owe this new development to my fab boyfriend who invested in my biz by purchasing a YUDU machine for me. Also, my sweet Grandmother surprised me with my very own sewing machine! I had been wanting one for awhile, to try my hand at some basic stitching. All these goodies in one week, it's just too exciting!!! Stay tuned for new products (and some new machine experimentation and mishaps, I'm sure).....;-)

Solían visitarla para curarse enfermedades muchos vecinos del lugar y de manera discreta, señorial, ella les atendía y no les cobraba.

Irma para ayudarla, después de unos rezados que establecen el "encuadre" de trabajo, el ritual, le pintó sobre cada grano un círculo negro con tinta. Quedó "a lunares". Y le prescribió: ahora te irás a tu casa por el camino más largo, irás por la calle donde pasea toda la gente, eso sí, no debes mirar a nadie en lo posible y sobre todo no debes darte vuelta, si giras la cabeza para ver detrás de tí los granos volverán. Haciendo caso la mujer fue a la calle con su piel pintada. A los pocos días los granos que tenía se fueron y no aparecieron otros.

.Irma hace mucho que falleció, en los sesenta. Su discipula Natalia, vive en algún lugar de Los Andes.

i'm busy with the school examination, but now i have free time. actually, there's nothing to tell but i'll let you know how my days going.

Apr 11th:
happy birthday vayo and aldi-aldo. nothing's special just study math for monday.

Apr 12th:
nothing's special as always. just study bahasa all day.

Apr 13th:
bahasa and math examination.

Apr 14th:
english and civic examination. then i went to labschool to know the second announcement and there's no 1B10030 in list.

Apr 15th:
science and religion examination.

Apr 16th:
social and computer examination.

o yeah and sorry, i won't update this blog because of national examination, maybe i'll back in 1st of May. wish me and all of 4th generation luck. see you guys!

Easter '09

We had a very low key Easter this year. We went to church, then went to chinese food for lunch, and then we went to my mom and dads for a small egg hunt, It was a kinda overcast unpredictable weather day so we just did the hunt in there house. (over and over and over again). It was a very nice day.

My Collection

I have never really collected anything (unless you count New Kids On the Block pictures to put on my wall when I was 12). But the past few years I have begun to acquire figurines/knicknacks of specific places/landmarks around the world, thanks a GREAT deal to my world traveling Mom in law! (Thank you Laura!)

As you can see from the picture there is an Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa , Coliseum, The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, The Seattle Space Needle, the votive candle holder from Finland, the wooden cat from Ecuador, the Sydney Opera House , and my newest addition the Duomo snowglobe from Florence (thank you Leann).

I love that all the famous locations are from that actual place and I love that they are from someone who went there and thought of me! It makes the collection a lot more fun! Sooooo.... I am putting this out there to you...... if you ever go to a landmark location and find a miniature replica or find a small trinket from a far away land (and you think of me), I would LOVE to add to my collection! I am hoping that someday I will get to add to it to myself, but so far my far away journeys take me to the midwest USA, and they don't make replicas of the Osmond Theatre in Branson.

Do you love how I am using my blog to solicit gifts from people! =) In all honesty, I would love to someday fill up a wall (or a small curio cabinet) with places from around the world, and remember each person that gave me each one.

I will put on pictures of my adventures from the next few weeks soon, I just wanted to share my collection.

Custom Cedar Chest!

Here is the first of many posts to come, featuring the cedar chest project I'm starting. I've been commissioned to turn this solid chest into a lively "Dia de los Muertos" piece, complete with skull portraits, skeletal dogs, a winged sacred heart, roses, and coffin butterflies (you'll just have to wait and see what those look like). I'm excited and a little intimidated at the same time, because aside from murals, it will be the largest piece I've done. I'm working on phase one today, which involves repairing the wood damage (from a chew happy puppy), sanding, and prepping the entire piece to be painted with a base coat. I've globbed a large amount of wood filler on the damaged areas, where I hope to re-shape the missing corners...we shall see. I will post pics, once I've begun phase two!

"Corazon Sagrado" Mirror

I completed this mirror about a week ago, and it's called "Corazon Sagrado" (sacred heart). I intended to have it at the art market on S.Congress last Sunday, but the crazy wind had another plan. I tried to set up my booth, but my table took off onto the sidewalk as though it were made of paper. I've been having some major wind issues, as I lost my tent a couple of months ago to wind. Needless to say, I'll be on S.Congress this Saturday before Easter, pending no natural disasters!


Since my last Sunday was a wash as a work day, I decided to enjoy my surprise day off. :-) I went into some cool shops, and I picked up this postcard titled "The Holy Alliance against sin":


What a great title! It's so serious business! I LOVE Catholic art, I find it very inspiring.

kayanya tangan gue gatel kalo gak ngetik nih ya ampun abis deh gimana caranya mau pinter coba lo rie hah? besok alquran sama plkj wah wah semoga berhasil.

eiya masa tadi ya ehm si doi EYA tiba-tiba masuk wow horor yang gue heran padahal udah bagus gak usah dateng lagi aja woy ah jadi keinget lagi kan edeh menyebalkan jadi kaya lagunya rocket rockers deh....disini kembali kau hadirkan ingatan yang seharusnya kulupakan EYA yaiyalah harus dilupain lah gila lo udah punya pacar berapa taun gila lo boy ah sudahlah semoga dia sibuk jadi jarang masuk amin.

gue buru-buru ke hall gede banget, disana udah rame, udah ada jason mraz terus gue duduk di paling pinggir deket pintu gerbang gede gitu terus jason mraz nyanyi terus tiba-tiba dia ngasih gue kunci gitu terus affy bilang "jangan dia mau jodohin lo sama yang namanya dimas" terus jason mraz istirahat terus gue kebawah naik lift eh ketemu richie dia sendirian terus ke atas bareng lagi terus dia nyanyi-nyanyi gitu ya terus tiba-tiba telfon bunyi........gue angkat "rie bangun udah jam tujuh" oh ternyata mimpi.

Hello~ Hazel is getting ear tubes tomorrow ( Monday). I know it is just ear tubes....but they have to put her completely out and she has never done this before. We are hoping that these will help with her hearing, which will help her speech. Please say prayer that Dr. Porter is able to do this quickly and effectively. Thanks!

hari ini? yah lumayanlah gak sebosen kemaren (biarpun gak makan sour sally). bangun tidur terus les agama as usual kan ya terus makan mie gitulah gapenting nah udah gitu kan mau arisan lalu gue mandi abis itu yaudah kan udah arisan skip aja ya terus pulang kerumah terus online bentar terus ke bandar djakarta gitu nah yaudah kan bawa kamera yah lalu foto-foto gitu terus kita minta fotoin mas-masnya terus kan udah tuh klik terus hasilnya guenya freaklah apalah gitu ya terus gue bilang "iiiiiih" eh si mas-masnya ngeliat ke gue, dia mikir gue nyela hasil fotonya kali ye haha terus reflekslah gue bilang "ampun mas haha canda canda" mas-masnya bengong-_- terus udah kan gue mau ngulang gitu ya udah tuh hasilnya bagus lumayan terus tiba-tiba mas-mas yang pertama dateng ke meja gue lagi "mau foto lagi?" ngapain ya enakan? makan sour sally yakan ahhhhhhhhhhhhh parah abis nih lagi ngidam sour sally dan tadi kan lagi makan malem gitu ya terus ngobrol-ngobrol terus katanya besok arisan keluarga gitu abis itu ci citra ngajakin jalan eya langsung deh "ma aku mau sour sally deh" terus dan terus kayanya besok deh yey alhamdulillah semoga jadi fuh udah ngidam dari kapan tau.

eh ujan lagi dong pengen deh, tadi sore-sore gitu ujan haha asik deh iya gue suka ujan yang gak ada petirnya ya, iye sebenernya gue takut petir cuman kalo lagi rame-rame gue sok cool aja iyalah masa jagoan neon takut petir yakan tapi kalo lagi sendirian gue langsung ngumpet di balik selimut-_- apa banget deh lo rie.

btw, untuk tempat chat gue ganti lagi jadi cbox haha abisan kalo shoutbox kayanya gimana gitu lebih ribet apa gitu gataulah intinya gitu yah jadi welcome (apa sih).

eh eh keinget sour sally lagi ya mau banget, ada yang mau belikan gue sour sally? ditunggu ya kawan. yang toppingnya choco chip sama strawberry yang fro yo-nya plain aja gausah yang green tea gpp AH PARAH GUE MAU!!!!!!!!!!! (oke, stop rie, lebay taugak).

ah bosen nih mau ngapain ya enaknya? mau sour sally banget ya atau gak sushi deh atau apa deh yang enak tapi lagi gak mau minta-minta dulu ah sama mama ayah soalnya kan gak keterima gitu ya di labschool ga enak kalo minta-minta gitu, kesannya nyusahin banget gitu ya gue rrrrrr eh btw, cboxnya gue ganti jadi shoutbox abisan yang kemaren alay gitu ah tapi sekarang ya biasa aja sih ya terus apa lagi ya? ohya good luck ya buat yang tes di alazka hari ini sama besok.

tadi chat sama avissa gitu anak labs, dia kan udah keterima ppsbb hu enak banget ya dia iri banget gue terus dia baiknya ngedoain gue ntar biar masuk sana haha seneng seneng makasih ya vis, ntar kita ketemu loh ya haha.

terus masa ya fardin (anak labs juga) temen purwa gue, masa dia udah lulus LIA huuuu iri banget gue baru HI 2, tapi insya allah desember taun ini lulus ah AMIN AMIN AMIN. abisannya bosen ah gila udah dari kelas 7 disitu melulu jadinya pengen kemana kek gitu yang baru enakan les dimana ya? apa wall street ya bareng aqila gitu? eh tapi gatau, lulusin LIA dulu deh.

Cutting, cutting, and cutting some more...

Yesterday, I spent over 10 hours cutting and crafting a whole new stash of tattoo flash magnets and bookmarks! It starts out being a lot of fun, but then by the 30th magnet or so, my hand was feeling a little cramped using the scissors. I was determined to get them all done though, and I did. Phew! I added a new option to my Etsy store of buying individual magnets, so you no longer have to purchase a full set. Now, you can mix and match - I thought that might be fun (personally, I like options when I shop). Today and tomorrow, I'm creating some new pieces. study harder to face national exam

hello folks, post kali ini cuman pengen ngasih tau kalo untuk sekarang-sekarang ini gue berfikir untuk mengurangi frekuensi ngepost gue yah soalnya kalo diitung dari hari ini, UN udah h-25 tapi kalo untuk belajar di sekolah udah h-15 terus ulangan umum udah h-5 tapi kalo belajar di sekolah tinggal h-3 hmmm ya tau diri lah gue dan tentunya gak mau gagal terus gamau buat mama ayah kecewa buat yang kedua kalinya.

tapinya ya kalo emang otak lagi penuh banget pasti gue nge-post lah haha tetep deh ri-_- atau gak palingan sabtu-minggu gitulah liat aja nanti gimana.

pokoknya gue butuh banget doa kalian semua, doain gue semuanya lancar-lancar aja ya amin amin amin.

alhamdulillah gue belom beruntung ya pokoknya berdoa aja deh ntarlah besok kapanlah dapet gelombang dua amin amin amin haha gue nangis loh hahaha dasar emang gue indosiar banget fuh hmmm rasanya apa? lemes, kesel, sedih mau marah ya tapi mau sama siapa marahnya? gak ada yang bisa disalahin kan.
selamat yang keterima ya, yang gue tau baru aqila doang nih (cie aqila dapet bb asik ntar gue pinjem ya wkwk) siapa lagi yang keterima dari tugasku? selamat juga buat sekolah lain yang keterima ya.
oya, buat siapa aja deh yang udah ngedukung gue terutama buat mama sayang, maaf ya aku ngecewain banget terus makasih juga ma buat dukungan segala macemnya sama ci citra juga.
terusnya buat yang lain juga yang masih belom keterima ayo ya kita jangan nyerah dong yakan yakan haha kan masih ada gelombang dua, kita berdoa buat yang itu aja oke atau 8 sekalian atau alazka atau mana gitu yakan yakan kaya qd sama rifqi gitu ya haha sabar dan ikhlas itu islam, kawan! (ayat-ayat cinta mode on).
eiya makasih juga ya buat affy sama rifqi yang sudah sangat amat menghibur dan menenangkan hati serta jiwa raga dan pikiran haha.
yah biarpun masih sedih masih kesel masih kecewa masih down masih iri sama yang keterima masih gabisa nerima masih mau nangis masih mau apalah yah kan i have to move on kan ya yah inikan bukan akhir segalanya yakan? insyaAllah, Allah masih sayang sama gue, masih mau ngasih gue cobaan ini, masih mau gue gak sombong, masih mau gue gak cepet puas, masih mau gue berusaha terus atau Allah punya jalan lain yang lebih baik buat kedepannya kan? mau gak mau, bisa gak bisa ya gue harus bisa terima kan, masa mau down terus? nggak dong. gue lagian gak sendiri kan, masih banyak juga yang kecewa gak keterima hehe.
doain rangking gue masih atas-atas ya biar gue masih bisa naik-naik nanti bisa dapet gelombang dua. amin amin amin.
